Investment Spotlight: Stori, Cohort 5

Introducing Stori, a platform to help game designers create and build stories

Investments

Stori is an AI-powered collaboration software that helps game designers create characters and storylines. Think Miro (an organization tool) combined with Canva (a design tool).

The founder, Nilu Kulasingham built his first flash game at 14 years old and has spent his entire career building tools for game design.

With Stori, Nilu’s big vision is to simplify game design and build the next Unity (one of the largest game engines with a $11bn market cap).

How the product works:

  1. The user creates an account on the Stori platform.
  2. The platform uses AI to generate characters based on user input (For example, “Create a main character who is a young warrior and is agile but inexperienced. Comes from a small village and has a pet falcon”)
  3. Then Stori creates storylines and adds structure to your game with their storyboard canvas.

We first met Nilu in Founder University Cohort 5. He was working on the product as a solo founder but had launched a waitlist and allowed anyone to demo the product.

With this open demo access idea, he had 15,000 people play with a demo of creating characters and building storylines, which validated his idea.

After seeing this initial growth and big vision, we invested $25k into the company. Shortly after, Nilu found a Co-Founder & CTO to help build his vision.
